SUMMARY

Global Asset Technologies, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Engineering Technician V. The Engineering Technician V will have a substantial background in engineering, with notable expertise in designing, preparing, and modifying engineering documents and drawings. This position involves performing complex duties, including designing major units, conducting tests and experiments, analyzing results, and providing recommendations for equipment improvement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and construct major units, devices, or equipment.
  • Conduct tests or experiments, analyze results, and redesign or modify equipment to improve performance.
  • Report results from general guidelines and specifications.
  • Develop designs for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy.
  • Analyze technical data to determine applicability to design problems.
  • Select from several possible design layouts, calculate design data, and prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.
  • Check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design.
  • Plan or assist in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance.
  • Determine test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures.
  • Conduct tests using all types of instruments, analyze and evaluate test results, and prepare reports on findings and recommendations.
  • Perform non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.
  • Select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts.
  • Contact personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate work.
  • Review, analyze, and integrate the technical work of others.
  • Train and assist lower-level technicians.
  • Review completed work for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Six (6) years of experience with a degree or formal training in an engineering-related field. OR
  • Ten (10) years of practical experience with a High School diploma or GED.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in designing, preparing, and modifying engineering documents and drawings.
  • Proven ability to design major units, devices, or equipment and improve their performance.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze technical data and provide effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in conducting tests and experiments using various instruments.
  • Capability to plan and conduct complex projects or portions of larger projects.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with personnel in related activities.
  • Leadership skills to review, analyze, and integrate the technical work of others.
  • Experience in training and assisting lower-level technicians.
  • Thorough understanding of testing requirements, equipment modification, and procedures.

 

Education:

  • Associate degree in engineering technology, math, or science OR
  • Formal Electronics Training from: a Civilian Technical School, OR a Class A or B Military School in Electronics or Communications; OR a Four-year Electronics Apprentice Program

 

Security Clearance: Secret Security Clearance (required)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
