SUMMARY

Global Asset Technologies, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Engineering Technician IV. The Engineering Technician IV will have a significant background in engineering, with notable expertise in designing, preparing, and modifying engineering documents and drawings. This position involves performing complex duties, including constructing components, troubleshooting malfunctions, conducting tests and experiments, and providing valuable input for design modifications.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Construct components, subunits, or simple models, and adapt standard equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions in equipment.
  • Follow specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits.
  • Conduct various tests or experiments, requiring minor modifications in test setups or procedures.
  • Make subjective judgments in measurement, select, prepare, and operate standard test equipment, and record test data.
  • Extract and compile a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc.
  • Process data, identify errors or inconsistencies, and select methods for data presentation.
  • Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials.
  • Develop information concerning previous operational failures and modifications.
  • Use judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
  • Perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed.
  • Select or adapt standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents.
  • Receive initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed.
  • Perform recurring work independently.
  • Review work for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience with a degree or formal training in an engineering-related field. OR
  • Seven (7) years of practical experience with a High School diploma or GED.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in designing, preparing, and modifying engineering documents and drawings.
  • Proficiency in constructing components, troubleshooting malfunctions, and conducting tests.
  • Strong ability to extract, compile, and process engineering data from various sources.
  • Excellent judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data.
  • Capable of performing non-standardized or prescribed assignments independently.
  • Skilled in selecting or adapting standard procedures or equipment based on precedents.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Thorough understanding of testing requirements, equipment modification, and procedures.

 

Education:

  • Associate degree in engineering technology, math, or science OR
  • Formal Electronics Training from: a Civilian Technical School, OR a Class A or B Military School in Electronics or Communications; OR a Four-year Electronics Apprentice Program

 

Security Clearance: Secret Security Clearance (required)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
