Overview

 

SUMMARY

Stampede Ventures, Inc., a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Archaeological Monitor for the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System project (PBRWS) in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area. The Archaeological Monitor will provide cultural resource monitoring, support, and expertise in support of the PBRWS Project as well as the local governments, state of New Mexico, local tribal governments, neighborhoods, and communities.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The Archaeological Monitor will provide on-site cultural resource monitoring for the duration of the construction of the
  • The Archaeological Monitor will adhere to all conditions of their tribal access permits, work closely with construction crews, tribal escorts and contractors when ground disturbing activities are being performed.
  • Under the supervision of Stampede’s Archaeologist Monitor Supervisor, the Archaeological Monitor will assist in the identification of archaeological deposits; assess finds using a standardized log form for recording results, observe historic architectural structures for possible impacts from ground disturbing activities; and ensure protocols in the monitoring plan for tribal and Bureau of Reclamation
  • In addition, the Archaeological Monitor will be present during all PBRWS construction activity and may pause ground disturbing activities from time to time to assess possible cultural resource
  • The Archaeological Monitor must be familiar with the PBRWS Programmatic Agreement and if cultural resources are identified during monitoring, be knowledgeable of tribal process and
  • The Archaeological Monitor will provide daily reports of all monitoring activity and locations, as part of job

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

  • An enrolled member of a New Mexico Pueblo /
  • Experience with tribal government and cultural resource
  • 20 Hours of Stampede Ventures, Inc. Archaeological Cultural Resource Monitoring
  • Field experience in development of monitoring plans and daily

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • The Archaeological Monitor must have documented experience in project management, monitoring plans, cultural resource investigations, pre-field surveys, mapping, and agency consultation in the completion of excavation work in tribal protected
  • The Archaeological Monitor will be responsible for the performance of the work for the PBRWS work under this
  • The Archaeological Monitor must have documented on the job experience associated with cultural resource management and have the knowledge, skills, experience, and training in the numerous specialties required to complete archaeological and architectural
  • The Archaeological Monitor must be able to perform the required duties of this position with little to no supervision.

 

Preferred

  • Anthropology degree and/or a minimum 10 years of cultural resource monitoring

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Job is performed in both an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system as well as on active construction sites. Exposure to dust, dirt, and the elements are to be expected.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
