Overview

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Sr. Shareholder Development Manager and in accordance with BSNC guidelines, policies, and federal laws, this position shall provide administrative support in developing and leading ongoing shareholder development.  The Shareholder Outreach Specialist is responsible for confidential and time sensitive material and must be able to effectively communicate via phone and email in a professional manner. This position requires great attention to detail, and Shareholder Outreach Specialist duties must be completed accurately and delivered with high quality in a timely manner.  Applicant must be a Bering Straits Native Corporation shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Descendant Registry, Shareholder-owned Business Registry and Talent Bank Metrics

  • Assist Shareholder Development in in collecting and interpreting data to help BSNC support and improve the database of shareholder and descendant records, including the shareholder and descendant talent bank, shareholder-owned business registry and descendant registry. Develop and implement data analysis procedures and systems. Conduct research and generate reports and presentations using compiled data.

Shareholder Employee Career Development

  • Assist Shareholder Development in collecting and interpreting data to help BSNC support and improve the shareholder employee career development program, including, but not limited to tracking development plan completion rates and Linkedin Learning usage, training plans, etc. Develop and implement data analysis procedures and systems. Conduct research and generate reports and presentations using compiled data.

Shareholder & Descendant Verifications

  • Administer and perform duties to ensure that shareholder status is verified for all shareholder, descendant and spouse job and scholarship applicants. Maintain the Descendant Registry and provide follow-up on verification statuses. 

Hire Metrics

  • Assist Shareholder Development in collecting and interpreting data to help BSNC support and improve shareholder and descendant hire, including, but not limited to, tracking hire percentages, shareholder employee orientation completion rates, build-out of workforce development resources, etc. Develop and implement data analysis procedures and systems. Conduct research and generate reports and presentations using compiled data.

Outreach Metrics

  • Assist Shareholder Development in collecting and interpreting data to help BSNC support and improve BSNC outreach and events, including, but not limited to, career fairs. Develop and implement data analysis procedures and systems. Conduct research and generate reports and presentations using compiled data.

Admin Support

  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Assist with the documentation of Shareholder Development Department personnel procedures as directed.
  • Maintain computer and manual filing systems. Coordinate office procedures.
  • Carry out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, faxing, etc. Prepare template agreements and emails on behalf of other office staff. Prepare accurate meeting minutes and monthly expense reports for managers and staff as directed.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned. Must be flexible and available to perform other duties in support of BSNC’s various programs.
  • Help coordinate meetings and calendars.
  • Compile data to prepare papers or presentations.
  • Review, prioritize and respond to emails.
  • Answer and return phone calls.
  • Organize documents.
  • Maintain records.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe.
  • High School Diploma.
  • 2+ years’ experience with data analytics. A combination of education and experience may be used to meet experience requirements.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Experience administering special projects.
  • Verified shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder of BSNC.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Ability to travel as necessary and willing to workdays, evenings, nights, overtime and weekends as required.
  • Working knowledge of ANCSA and Alaska Native history.
  • Knowledge of Bering Straits region, history and culture.
  • Knowledge of postsecondary institutions and student financial aid requirements.
  • Ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks and application deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to develop and implement projects using knowledge of good business practices, policies and organization.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of an organization.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
