SUMMARY

Stampede ventures Inc. a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking qualified Heavy Equipment Operator’s for work in Nome Alaska.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.

  • Operate loaders, dozers, excavators and/or grader in Nome Alaska in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Clean equipment as scheduled or required
  • Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored.
  • Practice workplace safety.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

  • Must have a valid Alaska Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 to 3 years of previous experience operating heavy equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of Equipment safety.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and trucks.
  • Ability to work in a Composite Type Crew Environment.
  • Ability to obtain necessary training for the work environment.

Preferred

  • 5+ year of Heavy Equipment operating experience.
  • Class A Alaska Commercial Driver’s License with applicable endorsements.
  • Current MSHA and First Aid/CPR certification.

NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This position does perform DOT “safety-sensitive” functions (as defined under 49 CFR Part 40) and is subject to all federal requirements related to Department of Transportation requirements for those performing, or on-call to perform, “safety-sensitive” functions. Employees must provide a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Jobs are performed outdoors with almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check. Must have reliable transportation to/from work as a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
